C&C 2020: "Bad Ending"Here's the scene: a few years from now (one or two) the government decides that it is tired of these superpowered people mucking everything up ever. Maybe it's triggered by the Coalition making a true victory; maybe it's the HIVE's fault. Either way, the fed cracks down on imPorts. Hard. Using technology ironically invented by imPorts - namely, depowering guns and stasis cuffs - they hunted down, arrested, and, in some cases, exterminated the imPorts, after finally breaching the Porter itself and partially locking it down.
Ten years later, imPorts are all registered with the government. People still get ported in, on occasion, and sometimes people still get ported out - those are the lucky ones. However, the whole resurrection thing? Yeah, that doesn't work most of the time now. Instead of getting dog tags and a communicator, new imPorts are greeted by armed guards who implant you with a tracking chip and tell you that using your powers is a federal offense. They apologize for the inconvenience and encourage you to live a normal life.
Those of you who behave? You get left alone, for the most part. If you can hide what you are, you might even have a decent job. If you look like a metahuman, tough luck - no one is going to hire you. Ever. And you're going to be picked on and treated like shit, because everyone knows - using your powers, even to defend yourself, will get a SWAT team armed with depowering rays and high-powered lasguns on you like white on rice.
Those of you with dangerous powers? You're watched like hawks, and the second you step out of line, you're whisked off to a mysterious facility in the ocean by Long Island, never to be heard from again. If your powers are too dangerous, you can bet that the government is hunting you down with intent to kill.
Maybe you haven't behaved. Maybe you've somehow found a way to evade capture, living day to day on the streets, never staying in the same place for long. Maybe you're trying desperately to organize a resistance group in a world where your every move is watched.

The date is March, 2020. It's an election year for American Citizens -- incumbent President V. Abraham is in the last year of his second term, and the final running candidates have yet to be decided by the American public. Not that this matters to you -- even registered metahumans can't vote.
But not all hope is lost: a slowly growing movement for ported/meta rights is taking shape, but is facing heavy resistance from the rest of the world. The likelihood that a Pro-Meta Rights candidate will even make the ticket currently sits at about 1%.
