She returned the smile, and if it contained more sentiment than his, it didn't matter now.

"Don't worry, I won't curse you once your back is turned." She closed the gap between them, pressing her lips lightly against his. "It's really a pity that you're a different man than I thought you were."

[osreborn]

He cupped her chin for just a moment, deepening their kiss before he drew away, not re-holstering his gun but lowering the arm so it hung at his side.

"I hate to imagine what kind of man that was."

[curses]

Her wand had long since been forgotten, hanging loosely from her hand. "Someone borne of misguided idealism, perhaps." She smirks now, crossing her arms. "But you know me -- I've always thought the best of people."

[osreborn]

"It would serve you well to start thinking the worst of everyone. Then you'll always find yourself pleasantly surprised rather than disappointed."

He smiled and stepped back, glancing around at the building. He turned his head so that it was on his left side, so his vision of it was blocked by his eye-patch.

"Anyway. If asked about this incident, I suppose I didn't see anything."

[curses]

"That's not a healthy way to think," she replied sardonically, drawing a line through the ashes with the tip of her boot. It occurred to her that she could take advantage of his blind spot, but she won't. Not today.

"I'm not going to mention meeting you to anyone, either. They probably won't take kindly to the fact that I let you go unharmed."
