[weird, covert communication like this wasn't new to Eridan. he casually glanced at the note, shoved it in his pocket, and fell into step beside the man in front of him.]

Answer, can you Ampora the... aw fuck, you know I ain't good at this kinda thing.

[a beat. he flashed a smile.]

[ he too flashes a smile, scouting the area in front of them.]

I know, Questions and Answers, that's us. [a beat.] Could have been better, what about you?

[he doesn't stop and keeps his voice low, high enough for eridan to hear him but low enough that others could not. he could use telepathy, sure, but in the event someone did overhear him at least he had an excuse to keep walking with eridan. casual conversation between strangers, the sort that isn't uncommon.]

Headed home?

You know, hatin' ewerybody, plottin' the death a the globe. Normal shit.

[and while Quentin is quieter, Eridan is not so careful. half because people joke about murder all the time in this city, and half because - well, he'd almost welcome someone to fight at this point. he throws his arm around Quentin's shoulder.]

I am now. You wanna grab a drink?

[eridan pls. well quentin laughs anyways. it's good to know some people don't change despite everything that'd been thrown at them, and he returns the shoulder embrace by linking his hand behind eridan. giving his shoulderblades a firm pat.]

Drinks? Why not? Got a place in mind?

Couple a good bars around here, and I keep the good shit at home. Haven't been out around people for a while though, so it's an even toss-up for me.

[he gave Quentin another manly bropat on the shoulder and then dropped his arm, making sure his scarf was firmly affixed around the nasty throat scar that would undoubtedly draw attention. maybe even out him. it had become kind of a tic in the last few years, admittedly.]

I've been in the woods, not that you can tell. [obviously, he had everything masked from his hair down to his feet, to even his smell masked. let's face it, when you live in the woods you're gonna smell like a bear sooner or later.]

[he steered them down a different sidewalk, hand through his hair.]

[the resistance work, though he's at least smart enough not to say so aloud.]

Showing pure breed cats? Wonderful, one nicked me across the eye though. But, that's what you get when you handle cats. I got a hundred stitches or so for it.

[okay. that's an exaggeration really, but he can't explain the excitement of the resistance in public!! that would just be dumb.]

Yeah. It's fine, just going to have to deal with a possible scar above my eyebrow for the rest of my life. No biggie.
