i am so sorry for how late this is
So when he shows up she runs her scans, looks over her security sweeps, and then opens a door and waves at him like she's just greeting a casual friend. "Hey, come on in." It's a small house, nondescript, and she'll probably be out of here soon. A risk or two can afford to be taken.

"You're doing okay?" He asks more as a formality than anything else.
<3 :)
That brings a slight amused quirk to the edge of her mouth, heading into the kitchen. "As well as can be expected. Tea? Coffee?" Keeping it light, casual for the moment. There aren't too many reasons he would be coming here, and whatever it is she'd like to let him start that conversation himself.

Restoring a world where that isn't the case is one of the reasons he's here. Jack follows With that in mind, Jack gets down to it.
"I'm here to talk to you about a mission."

A pitch she wasn't entirely expecting, really. That he had decided on a mission already - it indicated that he felt strongly about what he was doing now. That was good. Strong feelings meant more loyalty. "Okay." Turning to lean back against the counter and give him her full attention. "Shoot."
oh god why is there a typo in that last tag...
He took a step forward, his voice low and earnest. "I have reason to believe I can get that list from a building here, in the City. And I think I've got a way to get at it. But I'm going to need help."
typos go on the offensive with alarming regularity it's ok i know how it goes
And then a short, decisive nod as she turns to start pouring the coffee. "First tell me where your intel's from. I'll see if I can confirm it."

"I broke into a federal building in Newark on my way over here," he says matter-of-factly. "I spent some time with their records and one of their agents. The list wasn't there, but what I did find pointed to the Homeland Security Office in Manhattan's Civic Centre."

Handing him his coffee cup and heading over to sit down at the kitchen table (clearly well used, which perhaps isn't surprising given that the kitchen has no windows and the space the kitchen table sits in has a good vantage point of both the front and back door). "That does make sense. The Civic Centre - I think I have a program in there, I can set it to search for any mention of such a list. I won't be able to remotely hack it without raising alarms, but I can maybe get an idea of how much it will take to get it."
no subject
"Because right now all I have is the location, no intel on the building itself or the security. If your program can get me that, I can use it to put together a real plan."
He frowns and looks at his coffee for a moment before meeting Max's eyes again. "If possible I'd like to do this without killing anybody, but that might not be realistic."
no subject
"I can probably get you enough to make the start of a plan, and I figure if I do enough digging, I can probably pull you up a blueprint from somewhere. It might take a little bit, but it's doable." There's an energy to her words, already typing on one of her laptops as she starts information hunting.
That last bit surfaces her from her work, though, her fingers pausing as she looks over at him, serious. "We always try. But you're right. It might not be possible."

He takes a breath, controls his feelings. "We'll do whatever we have to. Anyone in there is part of the regime. They aren't innocent." They just work for America's national security. Like Jack did, for most of his career.

Her gaze holds his for a bit before it drops back to her screens, satisfied. "Good." Short and crisp. What needs to be done needs to be done. She doesn't have to be happy with it, and neither does he. Simply willing to do it.
