Rose has spent so much time hiding in plain sight, that she's fairly embarrassed by how exciting it is to be noticed. She signs the book. The note reads, in a neat purple script: To Nill,
I wish you had made an honest man out of D. Perhaps then he would stop making do unwanted exercise whenever I catch sight of him.
She closes the book very quickly. "You look very different without the lolita, I have to admit."

The longer she looks at the prosperous authoress, the more clearly Rose Lalonde emerges. Any sort of overt familiarity might not be a good idea, but she can't help but roll her eyes at the mention of her clothing. She favors jackets and long-sleeved shirts nowadays, jeans and comfortable boots. Modest, inconspicuous. All the better for her chosen profession.
Nill reaches up to touch her own hair before nodding towards Ms. Trate. You look different too, she wants to say. But, of course, she can't. And she's holding up the line, she feels, so she reaches for the book, if Rose will give it to her.

She raises a hand, and says "wait a moment," under her breath before she reaches down into her purse and brings out a torn piece of paper. She scribbles her number down on it hastily before reaching over the table to slide atop the book.
She sits back down with all the daintiness of an elephant doing ballet.

Later, a text message, from a number that will only be used tonight:
Dinner or drinks? Either is on me.

She sends a quick reply.
Drinks, I think.

And at the appointed time, Nill will be sitting at a small table in said bar, sipping on a water as she pretends not to be waiting for anyone.
